As manufacturers continue to create new vehicles that defy traditional categories, classifying them is becoming more and more difficult. Is this a crossover, a compact SUV, a hatchback or a station wagon? Or, in another case, is this a small SUV or a midsize SUV; because the original small SUVs have become bigger and there are at least two categories smaller than them. Actually, there are more than 5 different classes of SUV currently. Also, to complicate matters more, the word "crossover" is freely used by manufacturers for any non-conventional SUV that is higher than a hatchback and smaller than a full-size SUV. As a result, we have decided to divide the SUVs into just three simple categories based on their length; small, midsize and big SUVs. For detailed info see the explanation page for classifications in this website.
